World Snow Day was established by FIS. The celebration will see its twelfth iteration this Sunday, January 15, 2023.
The purpose of World Snow Day is to introduce young people to winter activities. In order to accomplish this goal, FIS collaborates with a wide range of snow sports stakeholders, including lift and cableway companies, ski and snowboard clubs, National Ski and Snowboard Associations, governmental agencies, non-governmental organizations, and many more, to organize events and take other steps that will make it easier for people to become interested in snow sports. More than 2.7 million people have participated in more than 4'500 World Snow Day events to date.
44 nations are hosting 141 recognized events for this year's World Snow Day. These activities include free lessons for kids and adults in St. Moritz (SUI), free lift passes for kids at Aletsch Arena (SUI), discounted lift passes and free lessons at Levi Ski Resort (FIN), free lift passes and equipment rental at Skistar resorts Sälen (SWE), re (SWE), Vemdalen (SWE), Trysil (NOR), and Hemsedal (NOR), free lift passes and equipment rental at Skistar resorts Sälen, re, Trysil
